"Emily has been wonderful! We noticed some behavioral issues with our kiddo due to his delay in speech. I reached out to SAGE with our concerns and right away she started with us. Our son has been working with SAGE since September and we have seen major progress with him. She has also given us the necessary tools to use with him at home as well so that we know how to work with him to help him succeed. Emily is also very open to suggestions and lending an ear to help with situations when they arise with our son. "On June 2nd, 2021 my mom unexpectedly passed away.
Emily knows my family and specifically, my brother Nick who has Down Syndrome. Without hesitation, Emily reached out to me personally and offered to help with Nicks processing. Emily asked me a few simple questions along with the request for specific pictures.
In such a short amount of time, Emily produced 2 personal visual guides for Nick. The first guide was a velcro friendly schedule to prepare Nick for the funeral and all that was to come. This structure alleviated clear anxiety for Nick the day of our moms funeral. He was able to refer to the schedule when he needed and physically moved the velcro pieces as each part of the funeral completed. The second guide that Emily made was a grief book. This book was dedicated beautifully to mom and the relationship she had with Nick. Emily made this book simple, clear, and visual. She laminated the book while compassionately outlining death, emotions, solutions, and supports in Nicks world. This grief book is something Nick is able to refer to in any moment that is appropriate for his processing.
Emily did all of this without a heads up for preparation and was able to give my brother something tangible to utilize during and after my moms services. Emily is kind, genuine, and passionate about the work she does. I would recommend Emily to anyone who has or knows of someone with a disability, for the services she offers are remarkable.
